Not all draped in black! Colourful fashion thrives in Iran despite post-revolutionary restrictions and, it’s not hard to see why. In antiquity, Persians were famed for refinement and indulgence in luxury - an enduring trait that influences everything from the country’s architecture to the design of its renowned handicrafts and carpets. Appearances also play a more central role in Persian culture than some Iranians may perhaps care to admit. Add to the mix a rich textile industry, advanced consumer market and a large youthful population seeking avenues for creative self-expression, and you have all the elements helping to drive an intriguing fashion scene...
